In analyzing ten seasons of Qatar Stars League (QSL) football matches from 2011 to 2022, we introduced SoccerNet, a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU)-based deep learning model achieving over 80% accuracy in predicting match winners. The study revealed the dominance of defenders over midfielders and forwards in QSL matches, emphasizing the significant impact of the last 15–30 minutes on match outcomes and presenting the first DL-based model for predicting match winners in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
